Dinosaur Footprints—Millions Of Years Ago Or Thousands Of
Years Ago?

Ancient dinosaur footprint dating back
100 million years discovered near coastal town
Don’t get me wrong,
I appreciate the discovery and the evidence, but as someone who follows the
Bible, the timeline is problematic. I do not subscribe to the religion
of secular humanism or its time markers. Instead, I trust what God has
revealed in His Word regarding the past.
In Genesis 1:1–2:3,
God created everything in six days and instituted rest on the seventh day. This
is the origin of our concept of a week and the foundation for the weekend.
During these six days of creation, God made dinosaurs on Day 6—because, by
definition, dinosaurs are land animals. On that same day, God also created man.
Any flying or sea reptiles were made on Day 5.
This means that
humans and dinosaurs were created on the same day, coexisting on the same
earth. Is this too difficult for an all-powerful God? Not at all! This is an
easy feat for the God of the Bible.
Adam lived only a few thousand years ago according to the genealogies
given in the Bible. Therefore, the concept of long ages is erroneous. Dinosaurs
did not exist until the same day Adam did! Technically, dinosaurs preceded
Adam, but only by a matter of hours—not millions of years.
This means that
dinosaur footprints could not have existed until Day 6 of creation. Today, we
find many fossilized dinosaur footprints (along with those of other animals)
and a few questionable human footprints (see the chapter on human and dinosaur footprints
in the book Dinosaurs, Dragons, and the Bible).
Understanding
biblical history reveals that the global Flood in Noah’s time was responsible
for massive sedimentation across the world. As animals fled to higher ground
before perishing, creatures like dinosaurs left their tracks in the softer
sediment, muck, and mud. These imprints then fossilized.
As subsequent
layers of sediment fill in these tracks, they harden in unique ways preserving
the tracks so that as they become rock with their shape is still intact.
Therefore, these ichnites are preserved for us to find today.
But what does this
mean? It means that these dinosaur tracks are not millions of years old, but
thousands of years old—which is when the Flood occurred. The Flood was about
4,350 years ago and buried many creatures and preserved massive trackways. This is approximately how old those dinosaur tracks are.[1]
Notice a profound truth here: we are all looking at the same evidence—fossilized dinosaur tracks—but the key difference lies in the interpretation of that evidence. It is better to start with God's Word as the absolute authority (after all, what greater authority is there than God on anything?) when analyzing the evidence, rather than blindly accepting the secular humanistic perspective often presented in news reports.

is possible that some pre-Flood or post-Flood tracks are preserved but that is
still not millions of years ago.
